General workplace basic fire safety
Aim of course
To ensure that all participants are adequately trained in the usage of safety equipment (first aid fire fighting equipment) as set out under the provisions of the 2005 Safety, Health and Welfare Act and associated regulations and cognisant with fire evacuation procedures as set out in the Fire Services Act 1981 (Amended 2003).

Programme objectives
To give all course participants:
- A general knowledge of basic fire safety procedures to be followed in the workplace
- In the event of a participant discovering a fire outlining the procedures to be followed to ensure staff and customer safety
- Theoretical and practical knowledge in the safe and correct use of first aid fire fighting equipment

Training approach
The course involves a lecture (utilising verbal, Power point and video presentations) and question & answers session.
Assessment and certification
Assessment is based on the participation of attendees in both the theoretical and a short written question paper. A certificate attesting to the attendees’ participation in and attendance of the course is issued.
